There was a woman whose entire life was surrounded by negativity. After a time, she too became as negative as the people around her. Conversations with her would involve past memories that were sad and depressing, and there seemed to be no laughter in her voice. As her depression grew, there was no longer room for the light and she soon died of cancer.

Positive thinking is synonymous with good health. Any doctor or psychologist will tell you that being in a state of depression will only cause illness, but living in a state of happiness can guarantee a longer life span.

There have been so many stories written about men and women who lived to be a hundred or more. When asked what attributed to their longevity part of the answer would always include the words “positive outlook” and a “happy existence.”

The movie “Pollyanna” is an example of what positive thinking can do for a person, a people and a town. It can lift you out of yourself and allow you to grab on to life with gusto. It can cheer up even the grumpiest of people. Yes, it can even turn Scrooge into a loving, caring and giving individual.

While there may be reasons not to be positive they should be pushed aside. Trying to control everything just leads to depression, stress and negativity. Control only that which you can and leave the rest to fate. Live a life full of positive people such as family and friends. Avoid those people who bring you down or have a view of life that always leaves them sad and dejected.

Positive thinking can be attained through affirmations. Said daily, they can immediately take you out of the bad mood you’re in and literally make you happy. You can meditate as well using a mantra of your own choosing. Whatever it takes, the moment you feel downhearted, think about those who have nothing. Think of those who are caught in wars and famine and of those who have no family or friends.

You may be thinking, “This sounds like the glad game in the Pollyanna movie.” Well to some degree it does. Be happy and surround yourself with people who make you happy. You too, can live to be 100, by living a positive and healthy life.

Options for people who need acne help have improved somewhat over the years. While online tips offering various skin treatments have greatly increased the quantity of advice out there, it’s important for anyone suffering from severe or persistent acne to consult a professionally licensed dermatologist.

Acne is widely thought to be caused by bacteria and exacerbated by hygiene, diet, exercise, and other environmental factors. However there is also likely to be a strong genetic component, especially for people suffering from psoriasis and other severe and persistent conditions. A simple first treatment is to clean the face often, and especially pay attention to outbreak areas. Some people who regularly maintain good hygiene will still suffer outbreaks, however, likely due to genetics and their environment.

The millions of young people seeking acne help must sort through a growing set of choices to find the best treatment for them. Teens, along with some adults who can suffer outbreaks into their 20s and 30s, undergo a nightly ritual of experimentation with different soaps and creams.

There are many options for the treatment of acne. Over the counter topical creams and lotions are readily available and for the harder cases more potent treatments can be obtained with a prescription. The active ingredient in over the counter topical creams is primarily Salicylic acid. This acid is also known as aspirin. The results for those who use soaps and creams often vary. The compounds that are available by prescription only serve as antiseptics that fight against bacteria.

Likely, the strongest treatment available today is to take a high dose of Vitamin A, orally for several weeks. This affects the oil producing glands so it can cause chapping of the lips or dryness of the face, it also creates a risk of birth defects for pregnant woman so the treatment is available through prescription only. Vitamin A treatment also requires regular a regular checkup of the liver through blood screenings due to its interaction with the drug.

Despite the best that medical science can offer, acne help is still sought after by millions who want a quick and painless solution. Dermatologists usually advise against popping pimples because squeezing can damage tissue and actually push the pustule deeper below the surface. If it is excised improperly, permanent scarring can occur. But regardless of the risk, the unsightly whitehead has been lamented and squeezed and popped again and again until the problem finally goes away on its own.

The most important factor on this earth is our health and well being and we need to do everything that we can to preserve it. Certainly other things are important too, we need an sufficient amount of income to live in society, we require love and shelter in order to sustain a healthy level of life, but in this writer’s thinking, no one thing is as crucial than our health and well being. I’ll not make such statements without a bit more insight.

While my thoughts are my own, they do have some substance and are not simply ramblings. I have (or had) a very close friend whose focal point in his life money, this did not cause him to be a negative person, quite the reverse is true, more than once he would come to me in times of need with a helping hand, now he has departed this earth, he lost his health and shortly his life. This is not what happens everyday and by no means do I want to paint this piece with despair, rather inspiration.

This is not a discussion for religious topics, yet in my heartI believe unquestionably that the spirit does not end and this life is asimply a rehearsal for the next; that said I want to live my journey to the fullest, enjoying, breathing in the air, feeling the excitement of the blowing wind in my hair and the beauty of a colorful twilight. When it’s my time to go, I’ll move without fear through the veil, but until then, I will continue to walk courageously across this earth and I can only do this with my health.

One skeptic wondered! ‘Why is health more important than wealth?’

In my humble opinion, with our health and wellbeing we can make every effort, we can produce a living, we can write resumes, go on career interviews, go after our dreams, embark upon new projects, live up to and exceed our potential, but only when we possess the concentration and well being to do so. As I sit here writing this article, I’m looking across the river, it is quiet and serene and my mind is unburdened and can meander and fly, but my mind is fueled by my energy and my energy by proper nutrition, staying active and a positive outlook on my journey; yet again, all this happens because of good health.

Every evening as I lay down to sleep, I think affimative thoughts, I observe deep breathing, I commune with God (yes I believe He exists), and express gratitude for my healthiness, but I do not take it for granted, I strive to maintain fitness. Every morning (and I’m not an early riser, favoring late night writing) I’ll do a series of limbering exercises and lite aerobics to increase my heart rate. I’m lucky, I have good genes, my mother lived to a ripe old age and my grandmother nearly the same, I learned these routines and I do not take these practices, nor my health for granted.

I guess I’m somewhat on a campaign, having lost two friends; two friends I had much regard for, but two friends who have now departed from this world. I do not mourn for these friends; knowing they now fly free, but I miss talking and sharing their company and wish they were still here with me.

Is there a moral to any of this…, it is simply to appreciate the life given you and to cherish it. While I can give you no unambiguous answer as to what will occur when we leave this life, I can tender this recommendation.

Live your life to the fullest, and appreciate every breath that you breathe.

One of the most popular exercises utilized today, which is a combination of both meditation and a series of slow and deliberate movements, is Tai Chi, developed around 2000 years ago in China. You may have seen Tai Chi performed by older adults in your local park, on TV, or perhaps by someone who attends Tai Chi classes.

The benefits derived from Tai Chi have been well known and documented. It not only relieves stress, but enhances one’s balance and flexibility as well. In addition, the moves implemented in Tai Chi are one of the best exercise programs in alleviating health problems in older adults.Â

While anyone can master the art of Tai Chi, you will find mostly older adults engaging in this beautiful and graceful exercise. Considered to be low impact, there are no major strains put on the body or joints and is particularly effective for those who suffer from any form of arthritis.

Recent studies have shown that Tai Chi, when utilized by older adults, offers calm and balance, dissipates anxiety and depression, helps older adults to sleep better, reduces bone loss in menopausal women, decreases blood pressure, helps in alleviating pain, and prepares one for tasks performed on a daily basis.

Considered to be a great form of exercise, Tai Chi requires no equipment, no time table, is very easy to do, has no side effects, and affords older adults the opportunity to meet others who love the exercise as well. Once you learn Tai Chi and the proper way to move, there is virtually no chance of injury.

Whether you perform Tai Chi in your home by following exercises on DVDs, or whether you go to your local park and exercise Tai Chi there, once you begin this art form of exercise you will most likely continue for the rest of your life. Further, you will begin to develop your own moves and may likely advance to the newest form of exercise and meditation known as Qi Gong. Based on the same principle of slow movements, Qi Gong, while new to this country, has been around as long as Tai Chi and will most likely become as popular in the future.Â

Meditation has long been studied and affirmed to be one of the best forms of relaxation as well as a great stress reducer. Adding this with exercise and you have an unbeatable combination. More importantly, not only will you develop a new exercise routine, but you will begin to feel good about it, your health, and your overall well-being.

Being a common problem among children who are in close contact during elementary school and day care even headlice live not only on the scalp, but can travel to other hair on the head, which include facial and eyebrows. Lice on other body hair is referred to as public lice, or body lice.

Head lice cannot fly because they do not have wings and they are unable to jump. Crawling in the only way they can move. A female louse can lay 50 to 100 nits or eggs in a lifetime. The louse uses a sticky substance to attach the nits to hairs, which makes them very difficult to remove. After the nit is left it takes about ten days for it to reach full maturity.

When it is determined that your child has head lice, it is often noticed by a school nurse or teacher. Many parents first question is about how to get rid of head lice. There are many lice shampoo products, which all can be bought at a local pharmacy. Just as your pharmacist for a suggestion on shampoo products, and lice combs. There are also herbal treatments which involve tea tree oil, or coconut oil.

Treat the areas where your child is at most frequently. Places such as his or her bedroom, living room, and other areas of play. Make sure to vacuum daily to remove any nits or lice from the carpet. Wash all soft items like clothing, stuffed animals, and bedding in hot water and dry them on the hottest cycle, this is all important to treat your child’s lice infestation.

Preventing lice is sometimes impossible, but through the practice of good hygiene you can lower the odds. Instruct your child to not share, helmets, hats, or any form of hooded clothing with other children. Wipe off items such as headphones between use as well. You must also check your child for signs of headlice frequently. Such signs can be white spots which do not comb off with ease, and monitor your child for any scratching of the head.

If you do determine that your child has been infected, inform his or her teacher or school nurse. Other children can then be checked to prevent a widespread problem. Many schools will also require an affected child to remain at home until treated and fully clear of both lice and nits. Check with your school for specific regulations.

Head lice is a common problem for todays kids, especially once they are in daycare or school. Lice do not fly, but are passed from child to child when in close contact. Many parents struggle to learn how to get rid of head lice. One option is to use a lice shampoo. Other ways to treat headlice include using a nit comb or herbal treatment. Teach your kids not to share hats, helmets or any hooded clothing, and check for signs of lice frequently. Inform your child’s teacher or caregiver if you find signs of lice, so they can help stop the spread of the problem.

Here we shall discuss some self-help tips for removal of head lice. We are not discussing methods for removal of body lice or pubic lice, but only hair lice. These miniature creatures are a nuisance. They have a gala time at our expense by feasting on blood from our scalp while we suffer from the annoying and irritating itch.

In this article, we are discussing about head lice only. Hair lice infest our hair on the scalp and neck only. These creatures should not be confused with other species of lice which infest other body parts namely, body lice and pubic lice.

It is generally assumed that lice can hop from one’s hair to another person’s hair if two people sit close together or play together. However, scientific research has proved that this is nothing but a misconception. Lice resemble ants, are wingless and therefore can’t fly.

Lice suck blood while on our heads by biting with their strong teeth, and this causes the tell-tale maddening itch. This itchiness, discounting the actual lice infestation, is usually enough to make us use a head lice treatment. One way of looking at it is as a war against these strong but small enemies.

The first part of head lice treatment is using a special lice removal shampoo for regular hair washing. Second, resist the urge to scratch the scalp. A lice removal comb has special teeth which will remove the lice and curb itching. These steps are critical to removing the lice.

Persons, who are infected by head lice, start the initial head lice treatment by the “frontline attack” which is mainly home remedies. However, in case this method fails one must take the help of the “special forces” by visiting a dermatologist. The dermatologist prescribes the specialized medicine for lice removal treatment after studying each person’s condition individually.

To save your eyes, you must avoid some kind of medicines and shampoos. If anything goes into your eyes, you must wash your eyes with water. If the eyes get red or there is swelling in the eyes, you must contact your doctor as soon as possible.

We all know and remember all too well how annoying, vexing and troublesome head lice can be. We are not talking about pubic lice or body lice. Hair lice can’t in “hop” or “fly” from one person’s hair to another. To begin head lice treatment, we must wash our hair regularly with a good shampoo. Secondly, we must try to control our urge to itch our scalp. Instead, we should use a lice removal comb. If the front line attack fails then you have to ask for help from the special forces by consulting a dermatologist.

Strength training injuries result from the improper use of equipment and bad form. Experts advise men who strength-train to employ the following techniques:

  • When lifting weights, always use a spotter.
  • Always have a good posture.
  • Wear proper shoes.
  • Use caution when picking up and returning weights to their original area.
  • Ensure all equipment is up to standards.
  • Always spend approximately 10 minutes warming up the body by stretching.
  • Begin slowly in strength-training exercises, starting with the larger muscles first.
  • Alternate training on different muscle groups three times a week.
  • Cool down for 10 minutes by stretching.
  • Ensure you know the proper way to handle weights to avoid injury.
  • Discontinue training if you experience any pain.
  • Learn breathing techniques.
  • Use a belt when lifting weights to protect the back.
  • Do not use equipment for the first time unless with a professional.Â

For effective results experts recommend that strength training should be done slowly, which provides additional resistance. In addition, it is also advised not to hold on to weights too tightly as it may raise blood pressure. Avoid pressure by not locking joints when lifting weights.

Whether you are working out in a gym with a personal trainer or working out at home, it is important to become familiar with each piece of equipment used, and how to use it to allow for effective strength training exercises.

While all of these tips are designed to contribute to a safe training session, there are many professionals who will offer their unique perspective and advice on how to safely train at home or at the gym. This is particularly true for older men who are just beginning a strength-training regimen. The most important advice anyone can offer is to listen to your body when engaging in any form of exercise.

It is estimated that over 3 million kids suffer injuries when exercising, whether it’s running, bike riding, or becoming overheated due to overexertion. In an effort to avoid any injuries, kids need to follow safety guidelines when involved in any form of rigorous or playful exercises.

Running: Stretching exercises should be performed to prepare the body for any type of physical activity. In addition, kids should cool down after each activity.

Bike Riding:Â Wearing a helmet, elbow and knee pads will protect kids from serious injury if they fall off or have a collision while riding.

Sports: When playing any type of sport, proper gear should be worn to protect kids from injury, including helmets, and knee and elbow pads. Notice should be taken to ensure the playground or park is in ideal condition for kids to play, as well as any equipment utilized in parks such as swings, monkey bars, teeter-totters, and other stationary equipment which kids utilize.

Dehydration:Â When running or engaging in any sport, drinking water should be a primary concern so that kids do not overheat and/or pass out from heat exhaustion.

Health: Before any kids begin exercise routines or participate in sports, it is a good idea to have them checked by a physician to ensure they are physically able to exercise in any form. Some kids may be limited due to conditions such as asthma.

Supervision: Kids who play in parks or on sports teams require supervision, that is, a parent or sports doctor who can assist an injured child while, at the same time, ensuring the kids are having a good time.

Exercising can be a fun activity, but oftentimes kids may not realize they are overexerting themselves and can run into a problem. More importantly, they may feel invincible when taking on an exercise such as bike riding or team sports and not wear the proper equipment. Encouraging kids to exercise and participate in sports is important, but teaching them the proper way to do it, without injury, is paramount.
