Relaxation

Vibration medicine is all about balance. It is based on the principle that all matter vibrates to a specific frequency. When our bodies deviate from their normal vibration, disease and ill effects can occur.

There are many types of vibrational healing. Some have been around for centuries, while others are in the experimental stages. Here are the explanations of some of the types of vibrational medicine.

Reiki

Reiki is a form of vibrational medicine that deals with our Ki, or life force. Practitioners are trained and attuned by Reiki masters. They promote relaxation and healing through the laying on of hands.

Reiki is based upon the principle that negative thoughts exist not only in the mind, but also throughout the body and aura. By altering the negative vibrations, Reiki practitioners allow Ki to flow freely through the body, allowing it to return to its natural, healthy state.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of healing in existence. Over 2,500 years old, the technique involves stimulating certain points on the body using fine needles. Acupuncture takes into account the same life force as Reiki, but it works on the assumption that the energy flows between two opposite poles.

The stimulation of the needles on specific points works on the organ systems of the body. By altering their vibrations, the life force is regulated. This treats the sickness or disorder at hand.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a fairly common form of vibration medicine. Only 2% of people in the United States and Britain use it, but 15% of those in India have used homeopathy.

Like the other types of vibration medicine, homeopathy’s philosophy is based upon the idea that disease and sickness are caused by a disturbance of the life force. In undiluted form, homeopathic medicine produces symptoms similar to those of the disease they are intended to treat. But the medicines are diluted and shaken several times before being given to the patient, purportedly enhancing spirit-like powers in the drug.

Other Types of Vibration Medicine

New forms of vibration medicine are being tested. One involves therapy with actual tiny vibrations, and is believed to be effective against osteoporosis. Study participants received the therapy for 10 minutes each day for a year, and their bone and muscle mass both increased.

Other types of vibration therapy involve vibrations of sound and color. It is not clear how well these therapies work, but they are being given serious consideration.

Acupuncture is probably the most respected type of vibration therapy in the Western world. But other types of vibration therapy are gaining ground. Although it is difficult to comprehend how these types of therapy work, they all have dedicated followers. Most of them have not been found to cause harm, and that is more than can be said for most types of medicine.

In today’s hectic world, stress is an extremely common complaint. Both traditional and alternative medicine offer solutions for stress management. But there is one technique that is specifically dedicated to the management of stress. That technique is called Reiki.

What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique aimed at promoting relaxation and reducing stress. Administered by the laying on of hands, Reiki works by increasing the life energy within us through spirituality. Reiki is a holistic technique, taking into account the mind, body and spirit.

Although Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not associated with any specific religion. One does not need to have certain religious belief to benefit from it or practice it. The most important principle in Reiki is that of peace and harmony.

Anyone can learn to practice Reiki. It is a simple technique that is passed on by a process called attunement from a Reiki master to his student. There are no intellectual or spiritual requirements to practice Reiki.

How Do Reiki Treatments Work?

During a Reiki treatment, the client usually lays flat. Reiki is also effective, however, when seated or standing. The practitioner places his hands on or near the client’s body in numerous positions. They may be in various places all over the body, or in specific places related to the client’s specific problems. The session generally lasts anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes.

Reiki treatments usually make clients feel very relaxed. They allow one to let go of tension and other negative feelings. When it is over, the client usually feels more positive and at peace.

What Can Reiki Do for Me?

Reiki is based upon the principle that negativity does not only exist in the brain. Negative thoughts and feelings collect in other areas of the body and in the aura. When this occurs, the flow of life force, or Ki, is restricted. As a result, we become stressed, and possibly even physically ill.

Reiki is guided by the Higher Intelligence, so it knows where to go and how to rid the body of restrictions to the flow of Ki. It works on the unconscious part of the mind to eliminate negative thoughts, and it works to remove them from the remainder of the body as well. This causes Ki to flow through unhealthy organs and tissues, allowing them to heal and function properly.

Reiki has never been found to have any negative effects. There are no side effects associated with it, and many who have received Reiki have reported a reduction or elimination of their symptoms. Reiki can be used in conjunction with more traditional medicine or alone. There have been no risks associated with Reiki, so there is no harm in trying it.

Most of us have experienced a night of where we just couldn’t get to sleep, or kept waking up in the middle of the night. While one night of not sleeping can be annoying, persistent insomnia can have negative consequences on our work, personal relationships, and health. If you just haven’t been able to get a good night’s sleep, here are some tips and tricks you can use to catch some z’s.

To get proper sleep at night, you should watch what you eat. Here are some eating tips for you to sleep on.

  • Avoid caffeine and other stimulants. You may think you’re okay if you don’t drink caffeine before bedtime, but stimulants can stay in our bodies for up to 6 hours. If you’re having trouble sleeping. Try not to drink caffeine after lunch time.
  • Don’t drink alcohol. This may put you to sleep right away, but you’re much more likely to wake up in the night and have a much less restful sleep.
  • Try some tryptophan. This is the chemical in turkey that makes you sleepy. It’s also found with most protein. Try eating a little protein with some complex carbohydrates at night. You could also try a warm glass of milk, another good source of tryptophan.
  • Avoid a big dinner. A lot of food late at night provides you energy and actually helps wake you up. It can also cause painful indigestion that will keep you from sleeping. Try eating a moderate dinner and a small bedtime snack instead.

You can also get to sleep better if you adjust your sleeping and bedtime habits. Here are a few suggestions you can try.

  • Have a set sleeping schedule. Our bodies thrive on schedules and rhythms. Waking up and going to bed at a set time will help your body develop a normal sleeping rhythm.
  • Get darkness and light. Another way to help set your natural rhythms is to make your bedroom dark or wear a mask while you’re sleeping. Shortly after you wake up in the morning, expose yourself to the sun or other bright lights.
  • Start a bedtime ritual. Our bodies develop natural responses to what we do. If you follow a certain pattern before you go to sleep every night, your body will know it’s time for sleep when you do these things. This will help you fall asleep faster and easier.Â
  • Only sleep in your bedroom. You’re much less likely to be able to sleep in a place where you work, read, or watch T.V. If you sleep and only sleep in your bedroom, your mind won’t be occupied by other things.

If you’re feeling stressed and have a wandering mind at bedtime, you should try these techniques to calm yourself down.

  • Take a warm bath. This will soothe your muscles and help you relax. Just be sure your bath isn’t too hot; it can actually make you more awake.Â
    Â
  • Try deep breathing and visualization. These can not only help calm you and prepare you for rest, they can also clear your mind and push away stressful thoughts.
  • Avoid stimulating activities. This includes not reading or watching T.V. before bed. Instead of relaxing and sleeping, you’ll end up thinking about what you saw or read.

If you find that none of these techniques work for you, you may also want to look at herbal remedies that will calm you and help you rest. If all else fails, you should pay a visit to your doctor.Â

There was a woman whose entire life was surrounded by negativity. After a time, she too became as negative as the people around her. Conversations with her would involve past memories that were sad and depressing, and there seemed to be no laughter in her voice. As her depression grew, there was no longer room for the light and she soon died of cancer.

Positive thinking is synonymous with good health. Any doctor or psychologist will tell you that being in a state of depression will only cause illness, but living in a state of happiness can guarantee a longer life span.

There have been so many stories written about men and women who lived to be a hundred or more. When asked what attributed to their longevity part of the answer would always include the words “positive outlook” and a “happy existence.”

The movie “Pollyanna” is an example of what positive thinking can do for a person, a people and a town. It can lift you out of yourself and allow you to grab on to life with gusto. It can cheer up even the grumpiest of people. Yes, it can even turn Scrooge into a loving, caring and giving individual.

While there may be reasons not to be positive they should be pushed aside. Trying to control everything just leads to depression, stress and negativity. Control only that which you can and leave the rest to fate. Live a life full of positive people such as family and friends. Avoid those people who bring you down or have a view of life that always leaves them sad and dejected.

Positive thinking can be attained through affirmations. Said daily, they can immediately take you out of the bad mood you’re in and literally make you happy. You can meditate as well using a mantra of your own choosing. Whatever it takes, the moment you feel downhearted, think about those who have nothing. Think of those who are caught in wars and famine and of those who have no family or friends.

You may be thinking, “This sounds like the glad game in the Pollyanna movie.” Well to some degree it does. Be happy and surround yourself with people who make you happy. You too, can live to be 100, by living a positive and healthy life.

When you get started on a workout, you want to keep it going strong, but you have to remember that you can do too much. Working out as much as you can, for as long as you can, and as hard as you can, is more likely to get you injured than in shape. Our bodies require regular rest to heal and to function optimally.

Sometimes when you work out, you create damage in your muscles and other tissue. It’s too small to really notice, but it’s still there. Resting your body allows these tiny injuries to heal themselves. If you don’t get enough rest between workouts, these tiny problems can add up to a larger, more serious injury. Rest also gives our muscles time to build themselves, so if you never get adequate rest, you won’t see significant improvement. Not only should you take adequate rests between each individual workout, you should also alternate light and heavy workouts during the week, and have a much lighter week every 6 weeks or so.Â

In addition to just “taking a break” between workouts, you need to get adequate sleep at night as well. Not only does sleep help us rest and relax our brain, it also allows us to relax and repair our bodies. Not getting enough rest will leave you sluggish, not at your peak performance, and will eventually make you ill. While it is recommended to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night, you should remember that each person is different. Some need only 3 or 4 hours of sleep to function properly, while others may need 9 or 10 to feel refreshed.

One type of rest people don’t usually consider when thinking about a workout is rest from stress. A workout provides stress to our body, but it’s not the only thing that does. If we are mentally and emotionally stressed throughout the day, it shows physically. If your body is in a constant state of stress, your muscles wont relax and heal, even when you’re just sitting there. If you are showing symptoms of fatigue and feel overworked, you should try adding yoga, Pilates, of meditation to your routine. These will truly relax your body and allow it to get the rest it needs.Â

If you don’t rest between workouts, get sleep at night, or de-stress at all, you’re not only more at risk for getting hurt, you’re probably also pretty tired. If you don’t feel like you have the energy to get out of bed in the morning because you’ve worked out too hard, chances are you probably won’t feel like exercising either. By doing too much too soon, you’re actually likely to decrease how much you work out in the future.

So remember, working harder isn’t always better. Take time to relax and let your body prepare for its next challenge.  Â

Stressed out? Need a good way to relax and feel better about life? Why not get a massage? Getting regular massages helps relieve the physical and mental stress from your body, leaving you ready to take on new challenges. Here are some of the great benefits of massage:

Improves immune system functioning – Studies have shown that the number of white cells in your blood increases after a massage. These are the cells that help the body fight diseases. With regular massage, you can have a stronger immune system and get sick less often.

Improves circulation – By relaxing your muscles, blood is able to flow more freely through your veins. Improved circulation gives you a boost of energy for the rest of your day. Plus, increased circulation in the skin can even reduce the appearance of cellulite if done on a regular basis.

Reduces pain - When muscles are tight and tense all day long, they eventually become sore. By relaxing the muscles with a massage, you can ease the pain caused by sore, stiff muscles. Plus, increased circulation further helps relieve pain from the area that is rubbed, and can help relieve tension headaches.

Decreases stress and anxiety – Stress is one of the most prevalent, but preventable causes of health problems in modern society. De-stressing is not only a great way to feel better; it also helps you live longer. If you’ve ever had a massage, you already know how relaxed it makes you feel. With relaxed muscles, decreased pain, improved circulation, your body lets go of all the daily stress you’ve been holding on to.Â

Decreases blood pressure -Â There was a study conducted that showed that a simple, short touch can immediately cause a drop in blood pressure. Combine this with the improved circulation, relaxed muscles, and decreased anxiety and you get a great way to keep your blood pressure low (you should be careful if you have low pressure to begin with); make sure to get up slowly and take it easy after a massage.

Improves mood – Massage has been shown to make you feel better due to many of the reasons listed above.Â
