The most important factor on this earth is our health and well being and we need to do everything that we can to preserve it. Certainly other things are important too, we need an sufficient amount of income to live in society, we require love and shelter in order to sustain a healthy level of life, but in this writer’s thinking, no one thing is as crucial than our health and well being. I’ll not make such statements without a bit more insight.

While my thoughts are my own, they do have some substance and are not simply ramblings. I have (or had) a very close friend whose focal point in his life money, this did not cause him to be a negative person, quite the reverse is true, more than once he would come to me in times of need with a helping hand, now he has departed this earth, he lost his health and shortly his life. This is not what happens everyday and by no means do I want to paint this piece with despair, rather inspiration.

This is not a discussion for religious topics, yet in my heartI believe unquestionably that the spirit does not end and this life is asimply a rehearsal for the next; that said I want to live my journey to the fullest, enjoying, breathing in the air, feeling the excitement of the blowing wind in my hair and the beauty of a colorful twilight. When it’s my time to go, I’ll move without fear through the veil, but until then, I will continue to walk courageously across this earth and I can only do this with my health.

One skeptic wondered! ‘Why is health more important than wealth?’

In my humble opinion, with our health and wellbeing we can make every effort, we can produce a living, we can write resumes, go on career interviews, go after our dreams, embark upon new projects, live up to and exceed our potential, but only when we possess the concentration and well being to do so. As I sit here writing this article, I’m looking across the river, it is quiet and serene and my mind is unburdened and can meander and fly, but my mind is fueled by my energy and my energy by proper nutrition, staying active and a positive outlook on my journey; yet again, all this happens because of good health.

Every evening as I lay down to sleep, I think affimative thoughts, I observe deep breathing, I commune with God (yes I believe He exists), and express gratitude for my healthiness, but I do not take it for granted, I strive to maintain fitness. Every morning (and I’m not an early riser, favoring late night writing) I’ll do a series of limbering exercises and lite aerobics to increase my heart rate. I’m lucky, I have good genes, my mother lived to a ripe old age and my grandmother nearly the same, I learned these routines and I do not take these practices, nor my health for granted.

I guess I’m somewhat on a campaign, having lost two friends; two friends I had much regard for, but two friends who have now departed from this world. I do not mourn for these friends; knowing they now fly free, but I miss talking and sharing their company and wish they were still here with me.

Is there a moral to any of this…, it is simply to appreciate the life given you and to cherish it. While I can give you no unambiguous answer as to what will occur when we leave this life, I can tender this recommendation.

Live your life to the fullest, and appreciate every breath that you breathe.
